About Marina's Public Channeling

Before you jump feet-first into a public channeling event, the information on this page might help you to understand a little of what to expect when I channel. This information is for general purposes only and does not necessarily reflect what might happen at a real channeling event. Mileage with other channels may vary. ;-)
In addition, if you are going to any channeling event, whether my own or someone else's, do please take the time to read my article on what channeling is and isn't.
What to Expect
Here is more or less what to expect in a channeling session:
- I stand (or sit) before the group and speak "as myself,"
introducing myself to the group and fielding any pre-channeling
questions.
- I give my standard "caveat," which says, in summary, that what I am saying is a collaboration between myself and the entity I am channeling, and that it isn't to be taken for 100% gospel "msut be listened to" truth. Instead, I ask people to take away with them only what sounds and feels right in their hearts, and to do what they wish with the rest.
- I then open a connection to the entity being channeled, after which I act
as a translator for that being. Generally, the entities like
to speak for a while, then give a guided visualization with healing
intent that is custom-tailored to the needs and temperament of
those present. So far, every guided visualization has been unique.
However, this format can and often does change with each audience.
- In closing, the entity or entities present field questions
from the audience. This is your chance to hobnob with the superstars
of the cosmic set.
- Finally, the entities step back and I make myself available
for any after-channeling questions people may have.
Special note: Before I channel, I usually like to get myself into a certain clear mindset and I don't
normally want to talk much. So if you want to say "hi" to me personally, it's best to wait until after the channeling. This is pretty much true of every channel.
The Channel: A Radio Station, A Portal for Another Being, or a Translator?
I have been asked if I am basically passing on exactly what I am getting (i.e., acting as a radio station or allowing another being to take me over). The answer is no. I don't consider myself a portal for another being. I think of myself as a translator.
An analogy: If you have ever been with someone who is hearing impaired who has a person translating for them, you might have a picture of what I mean. Here is how that works: A hearing impaired person who wants to mingle with non-signing people might hire someone to come along as a translator. If you want to talk with the hearing impaired person, you look at and talk to the hearing impaired person, and the translator interprets what you are saying to the hearing impaired person in sign. The hearing impaired person responds in sign, and then the translator turns to you and says what was just said, using the first person. It can be disconcerting at first, but you get used to it. When I first encountered it, I was confused when the woman next to the hearing impaired man would say "I." I thought she was referring to herself, as the trnaslator, but instead she was using the first person in her translation, so that "I" referred to the man she was translating for. She (the translator) explained the process and told me not to look at her or to pay attention to the fact that she was saying "I."
For me, that is almost exactly what I am doing. I am not "taken over," nor am I a portal; instead I internally translate for the entity or entities (to them), and externally translate for the audience present. I and teh entities do a lot of fact-checking internally to make sure I got the translation right, and I make a lot of minor course corrections as I translate, usually to get a word more accurately or to remove something I introduced that was more a part of my opinion than what the message was meant to be. I "feel" the message internally more than hear it, and there is always much more than what I translate. It is like receiving a large book's worth of information and being only able to read some of it aloud. However, my understanding is that the information is disseminated spirit-to-spirit anyway according to each person's wishes, so I don't worry about it. Sometimes it is interesting for people to sit in on a debriefing in which I talk about the channeling immediately afterward, because then you get to hear more, and hear about where I though I introduced a little too much of me, and where it was a clearer message, and why I changed tacks, and so on.
It is true that some channels allow an entity to step into their body and use it, but that is not my preference. It is also true (from my perspective, anyway), that the entities are present in the room, so to speak, and often people experience their presence as coming through me, though I don't think that is really what is happening. I think people sense the presences and allow themselves to experience it as coming through me because they are more comfortable with it that way. I like to discourage that kind of thinking because I think that
sometimes channels can get confused as to who they really are and can start thinking they are the entity they are translating for. (Though in some cases, they are! Or at least they are an earth-based avatar of that entity.)
Also, I am not comfortable with any kind of "worship" approach. I much prefer someone to tell me that I am full of it and they are going to continue to walk their own path than to receive someone's undiscerning acceptance of everything I say as gospel because I am channeling someone Important. That's why I give my caveat/disclaimer before hand. Oddly enough, there are some people who are put off by my saying I am NOT infallible. Go figure.
That's it in a nutshell. As I requested earlier, for much more in-depth information, please read my article on what channeling is and isn't.
